5 police members hurt in Rajshahi explosion

Five police personnel received severe injuries as the activists of BNP-Jamaat hurled a crude bomb at a police van in the Sohadighir More area of Rajshahi city on Thursday morning. The identities of the injured law enforcers could not be known immediately. Police said BNP-Jamaat men launched the attack in retaliation to the arrest of some 15 to 20 activists from the spot earlier in the day, while the unruly opposition members were staging a protest in front of Bhubanmohan Park. Officer-in-Charge of Boalia police station Ziaur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that one of the injured policemen, who received severe injuries to his chest, was being taken to Dhaka for better treatment by a helicopter. Another officer was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The OC said: “The policemen came under the crude bomb attack while patrolling the area around 12:30pm.” – See more at: http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/2013/dec/26/5-police-members-hurt-rajshahi-explosion#sthash.0hTQvd9b.dpuf
