Pakistan ‘militant chief attacked’

At least 12 people have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a militant commander’s compound in north-west Pakistan, officials say.

Reports said the commander, Nabi Hanfi, had been fighting the Pakistani Taliban in the Orakzai tribal region.

Officials said gunmen fired shots at the compound before a suicide bomber drove a vehicle inside and detonated his explosives.

Several other people were injured. It is unclear if Hanfi was killed.

No group has said it carried out the attack.
